Feels like I'm driving in the wrong gear.
Because nobody here has ever heard of anybody replacing "the" camshaft on account of there are 2 of them and mostly because replacing both camshafts would cost as much as replacing the entire engine?
If you actually did, why? Nothing you have said here would indicate the need to. Which one? How about the timing chain and guides? How about the chain tensioners? What caused "the" camshaft to malfunction, was that fixed?

I'll respond since it was directed at me.
I said I doubt it was a camshaft because that is a major part of the internals of the engine. Besides, there are 2 camshafts (your engine is a double overhead camshaft engine).
I think you just misspoke about the part. It was probably the camshaft actuator solenoid. That part is just a sensor so to speak and easily replaced.
Now camshafts themselves, that would involve major engine repair. AND would be very costly.
As far as your current issue. We've tried to ask you questions about your problem. You haven't answered those. It would help us narrow down what the cause may be.
Heck. If you're anywhere near me in Alabama, I wouldn't mind having a look at the car. Pretty sure I could tell you what the problem is.
Fwiw. I wouldn't try to shun Donbrew. He's one of our best technical gurus. He's got loads of info and can find an answer when others can't.
