Flat Spotted Tires?

Left from work this afternoon with temperatures in the low 20's. The HHR started shaking and feeling like I had a flat spot on one of the tires.
At around 40 mph the vibration got much worse. I pulled into a parking lot
and I can't see anything wrong. Tire pressures are all up, everything looks
great. Could this be from a wheel weight coming off, loose lug nuts, axle problems?? I don't think its a loose belt in one of the tires. Any suggestions before I take this baby to the dealer??

2010 LT

Thanks,
Mike

I get the same thing... I cant figure it out either. I am running the firestone affinity. They were on the car when I bought it. Once the car warms up the problem seems to go away. I wondered if it might be related to the sway bar bushing issues that I also have when the temps go down.

Any snow or ice? I have had ice buildup on the insides of the wheels that caused them to shake like that.

Ditto. Seems like they are succeptible to this.

Not sure if there was or not. It's my garage right now warming up for a test ride.

Thanks for the suggestions. That was a strange feeling.

By the way, the question was asked by "Doc brown" I didn't use the quote by mistake.

The Firestone Affinity tires will flat spot, mine did. This usually goes away after about 5 miles or so...... just like the old bias ply fiberglass belted tires.

My OE Flintstone FireHawks flat spot after sitting, for a few days, only seem to notice this in the colder weather.
Couple miles & they are rolling smooth.. Still gonna be replacing them, with a different breed.

Ditto on the thumping FireHawks sleeper, anything below about 30 degrees and I bounce along merrily for about 5-7 miles. I might replace them, but buying the SS last month kinda killed my "toy" budget for the near future.
