Front end clunk returns
I'd like to chime in with my front end noise issue that I just experienced. I was getting new tires, so I replaces the struts (assemblies) and shocks. I also replaced the stab links with Moog pieces. Great ride with the new gear and new tires.
Fast forward a couple months I started getting some noise, even on smoother roads. It seems to go with the slight undulation of the road, so I thought maybe the stabilizer bushings. I had the control arm bushings replaced about a year ago, so I think we're good there.
I finally got under the car yesterday, and found the bottom of the right stab link was moving in the stabilizer bar hole. I guess it wasn't completely seated when I tightened it up and I guess it finally unseated itself. I had checked this area once before, but it was not loose...or so I thought.
Now for the lesson learned here. when I checked last time, I jacked the car up and took the wheel off. Yesterday I drove it up on the ramps and was able to spot the issue with the suspension loaded. It only took a 1/4 turn to snug it back up, now she's nice and quiet again. I guess when I put it up on the jack the weight of the suspension kept things tight in that area. Probably sort of a freak occurrence, but I hope it helps someone out some day.
