Front end noise

I have a knocking sound in the front of my 2009 HHR LT which varies depending on the vehicle speed. It is apparent on smooth roads as well as rough roads. I have turned the steering wheel side to side while driving, thinking it is the hub gone bad but it doesn't have the howling sound associated with a bad bearing.

I have attached a recording of the sound if that might help. Thanks.

Have a close look at the swaybar endlinks and the the bushings. Then the LCA rear bushings. It might be time to swap them all out, how many miles on your HHR?

I will look at the things you mentioned. The odometer on my HHR is 330K but the dealer I bought it from showed me a history report showing the car having 120K. He said the dash may have been changed that 'might' explain the mileage. The car didn't look like a car with 330K on it. My neighbor thought it was brand new in fact. Mechanics who have worked on it are amazed how clean and almost rust free the underside is. It does need new LCA's so that might be the noise.

I'm sure they could but I'm trying to figure it out and possibly do the repair myself.

Ask your mechanic and then change the part that's bad.
IF your mechanically inclined.
