Handy reference: List of oils that meet GM6094M spec
I didn't check the list but I did email Amsoil and several of their oils easily meet and exceed the spec. Amsoil for me....www.amsoil.com
I've got 4300 miles on my new SS. How long can I go untill I have to change oil. Do I go by the oil service life read-out or by the service manual of 3000 miles. With the cost synthetic oil at $5 per quart, oil changes could be expensive. HELP!
to the site!!! Answers will vary. I have spoke with my service advisor and I'm going to do my first change at 3,000 miles and then around every 8,000 miles after that.

Ask Amsoil to supply their test data sheets that display the evidence that their oil meets the GM Spec. They CANNOT POSSIBLY DO THAT since GM's spec test is propriatary and done in house, by them. AND Amsoil DID NOT SUBMIT SAMPLES for certification. Also notice in ALL of Amsoil's liturature they indicate they RECOMMEND their oil for the GM applications. They DO NOT SAY, MEETS OR EXCEEDS those specifications.
But again, ask for the "meets or exceeds" in writing with documentation......from THEIR website....

I don't care what oil you use but my tolerence level is very low regarding misinformation !! SORRY.
GM finally caught up with new technology and reproduced/rebuilt that site with password protection.
I lost all my old access passwords gradually over the past 2 years. That was the last one......lost it just about 3-4 weeks ago.
With the way GM is "cleaning house" I suspect a lot of new changes are coming. Hopefully for the best.

RE: List of oils that meet GM6094M spec
Royal Purple or Mobil 1 are the only things I've used with good results.
The specs I've seen on Royal Purple are horrible. It's barely better than regular petroleum oi.
