Have you had rotor issues? POLL
hey all Gm just released a new bulletin to inspect front brakes, and install new splash shields that are currently not installed on HHR's I don't have the TSB number handy right now but will post it as soon as I can get it. Under this tsb it says to replace the front brake pads, rotors, and install these shields.

Mines has had rotor issues when using often since I've owned it at about 30,000. I have purchased EBC slotted and dimpled rotors and red pads but have been waiting for the good weather to put them on. I guess the time is here.
Mine started shaking when braking at about 9k miles. I put it off until it got unmanageable at 18k miles, then took them off and had them turned myself. Now the problem is back in full force at 30k miles. This time around I will let go of some cash and get the EBC slotted rotors and pads
.
To be fair, my particular rotor warping problem was probably exacerbated by aftermarket rims and failure to properly torque the wheels (the first time around). After turning the rotors, I went to great pains to properly torque the rims and make sure all surfaces were clean before mounting. It did make it almost 12k before the shaking began again..

#08-05-23-003: Front Brake Noise, Brake Pulsation, Front Brake Inner Pad Wear (Replace Front Brake Pads and Add Splash Shields) - (Mar 20, 2008)
Subject: Front Brake Noise, Brake Pulsation, Front Brake Inner Pad Wear (Replace Front Brake Pads and Add Splash Shields)
Models: 2006-2008 Chevrolet HHR
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Condition
Some customers may comment on a brake noise and/or pulsation on brake apply. This condition can be more frequent if the customer resides or travels on dirt/gravel roads and usually occurs within 11,300 km (7,000 mi) to 16,000 km (10,000 mi) intervals.
Upon investigation, the technician may find that there is considerable difference between the front brake outer and inner pad thickness.
Cause
This condition may be due dust, dirt, and debris intruding between the inner brake pad and rotor.
Correction
Road test the vehicle and confirm that the brake noise and/or pulsation is coming from the front brakes. If it is determined that the noise is coming from the front brakes and there is a measurable difference between the outer and inner pad thickness, remove the front wheel bearing/hub assembly following published SI procedures, remove the bearing/hub-to-steering knuckle spacer and replace the spacer with a splash shield on each side.
Replace the front brake pads and follow the procedures outlined in Service Bulletin 00-05-22-002J for servicing the disc brake rotors.

I think this will correct the problem I am having, but basically my HHR started to develop a shake early this week (with 17,100 miles) and it is not going away. I called my father, who is a parts manager for a GM dealership, and he looked up this TSB and ordered the parts. I will also have the safety recall completed when I bring it in. If anyone has any other brake related TSBs that I could tell my dad about post 'em here!
THANKS!
