head light replacement

I have been really happy with my HHR until the headlight went out.
Problem being you can't just lift the hood and replace the bulb, no....
not the HHr, Why on earth would they fix this car where you have to take the whole nose off to replace a headlight???? Somebody explain this process of thinking to me, Because right now I am so upset with this fact.... I am totally upset with Chevrolet right now.. Why ???? Headlights are know to go out more than anything on a car.. To make it so difficult for a person to just change out a light is beyond my level of thinking.. Chevy should have to pay for the bumper cover to be remove for the lights to be changed on every HHR they have sold.

This is my level of thinking, I am 58 years old and not able to get under the car and around it like a younger person can do, and car lot wants 45.00 labor charge to do the work. What a rip off..... Thanks a lot Chevrolet....

Welcome to the site Ikenna155 I'm only 54 if you bring it by I'll change it for you. There is an easier way to do it. Remove the screws and push pins on the inside fender liner , turn the tire inward and reach in there and change the bulb. Remember rubber gloves , no finger prints on bulb or it will blow up again.

Yup, changing the bulbs is a pain in the butt, nothing much you can do other than live with one of the HHR's odd little quirks.

I followed that thread and was done in about 15 minutes to change both the bulbs, I figured while I was at it, I changed out the side mark and the turn signals , I with you 57 years old and not as agile as I once was!!

You know, its not as big a deal as it seems, but compared to some cars and trucks its more involved than some folks want(or are inclined)to deal with.

I probably did a few years ago in another rendition of this thread. I've had a trim fastener/molding removal set for years. Not sure mine came from Harbor however......

just did mine. Headlight bulb. PITA... it would have been very easy for Gm to have designed in "snap in" panel door on the fender so you could reach your hand up and in and not need tools. Or better yet not used the stupid plastic fender clips and juts used 7mm screws everywhere...

Being lowered on Goldlines all around, I hate having to work on my headlights. I was able to turn the wheel and reach in up until I put the drop springs on. Now I have to take a tire off to change a bulb.

I'm about to perform a retrofit and if I see a way to open things up a bit, I might just have to. This setup makes me miss the days when changing a headlight bulb was as easy as popping the hood.
