Angry Headlight Assembly Not Tightening In

About a week or two ago I replaced the low beam headlight bulbs on my '10 HHR and while the one on the driver is doing fine, the passenger side is giving me issues. The assembly itself is not tightening down into the socket where the bulb stays in, it'll continually pop out (the assembly, not the bulb itself).

I tried to make sure that everything with the assembly itself is fine, there's no obstructions or other crap that would hinder it from being tightened down. The damned thing just will not stay in and I'm pulling my hair out. I don't know why the thing will not lock in on that side when the driver side was fine.

I'm almost at the point of just taking duct tape and taping it down, but I know that either will not help or just make the problem worse.

Make sure the old gasket didn't remain on the assembly when you put in the new bulb which already has it's own gasket.
The "trying to fit 2 gaskets in a 1 gasket place" has happened to some of our members
here before.

Just curious: You say you replaced the low beam bulbs ? HHR's have a single high/low combination bulb per side.
There is no separate low beam bulb.

If I understand you are saying the bulb stays in but the othe piece pops loose? Are you sure there are no bent pins in the harness connctor?

I'm an idiot, I pulled out the assembly and yes it was on there. Locked into place now.

I mentioned the low beam bulb only because the problem previously was that low-beams wouldn't come on, all the other beams were working fine.

Glad it was a simple fix for you. There have been others of us that fought the same battle only to find out the old gasket was still there. Felt pretty silly struggling with it after I figured out how easy it was.
