Help!

I hit a curb and bent my rim and blew a tire. I replaced the rim and tire but one there is a rubbing noise when I turn left. Has anyone else seen or heard of this? I have looked everywhere under the front suspension but I can't see anything out of place. HELP!

Ether a hub or a CV or a Lower Control Arm.

Any mechanic should be able to diagnose it.

Welcome to the site

It's fairly common to have a wheel bearing failure after a hard impact like that.

There is a good chance that something else got bent. An alignment shop would be able to help find that for you.

Rather than trying to diagnose a problem like this over the internet - take it to a shop you trust and have them give it a once over.

From the sound of it, Hub or CV as was mentioned before though, as well, get it looked at ASAP.. If you hit it HARD enough, it could have done worse damage, and your safety is paramount!

to the forum!

X2 to all of the above, get it to a trusted alignment shop, or a body and frame shop and have them go over it.

One thing that that didn't get mentioned, and I'm not saying it to scare you, but this is also a safety issue. You could have a component ready to fail in the worst possible way leading to a loss of control and an accident.

Thanks guys! I am going to take off the hub assembly tomorrow and check it. I also found a set of aluminum 17 inch rims. Can I change my stock 16 inch rims with the 17's without it being a major project?

As long as the alloy rims are the proper 5 x 110mm bolt pattern, with a 38-42mm offset, you'll be cooking with gas as they say.

The thing that can trip folks up is the O.D. of the tire and wheel package, 26" is the magic number. Anything over that and you can get into a situation where the inner sidewall or tread cheek is going to rub on the lower front spring perch.

Here's a link to the wheel/tire size tool that most of us here use.

The bolt pattern is absolutely identical. I already put one on and it fit fine. It just looked a little close to the strut. I am going to replace the front hub and hopefully get my new rims on. Thanks for the help. This site is awesome!
