Help led glow

Help led glow

I replaced the map lights with led's, bright but They glow when they are suppose to be off. Did I get the wrong ones. Can anyone give me with a quick fix Not great with soldering. Also anyone know how many leds will I need for the Third brake light

The map light deal has me scratching my head, but I'm sure someone here will chip in with a solution.

yeah there was a thread or two on here about that issue with replacement leds staying on dimly, dont remember the solution, maybe a load resistor? keep searching the forums

Found some info on the CobaltSS forum, seems you need to put a 1-Ohm resistor on the positive contact of the LED to take care of the currant "leakage".

I think latching may be a better term than leakage, same sort of thing though. We must remember that modern cars are digital not "on/off". In the digital world 5V may be "off" and 7V may be "on". "brake pedal position sensor" V. "brake pedal switch", etc.

I just picked up an led of my choosing that matched the bulb at RadioShack dot com and never had a problem.

Many of those come with a pre-installed resistor. Maybe you got one without knowing it.
