Help plz
In 2 years of ownership of an 06 HHR, I've discovered most garage mechanics are not very good at eliminating possible problems before calling for a parts delivery and bolting on whatever part arrives. Mine, for example, was thought to be blower motor and or resistor...expensive fix lasting a week. Neighbor and I had access to console side panels and tightened one bolt holding fuse block to BCM? [too many initials used when talking about an HHR but then it is called HHR and no one knows what that means!] I then wedged some blue pool noodle like material on both side to prevent wiggle. Just by chance, we pushed in on every wire towards the black box and wala...no further problem. Changing the resistor 3x, once by myself and it's a bear to get to bolts. They are not usual 7mm, but 6.5 and what shadetree guy has a 6.5? 6, 8, and our elusive 10 friend. Went to junkyard to remove a blower motor to see how it's done..another bear. See why first garage charged so much. You can only do so much work yourself and a paid mechanic who know how to properly diagnose is rare. Changed garage and new man cured the vibration in front when braking by replacing worn tie rod ends and rubber protective caps. I had him dial out the rotors and finding very very little problem, turn them anyway. It stops like a new vehicle and my new Tiger Paws from BJ's were mounted and balanced. BJ's doesn't align, so I drove as is and guess what? No alignment needed driven 5,000 miles in 6 months. Hoping for 12 months of uninterrupted service and 3 yr ownership. Then my purchase costs will make "36 month sense." When you buy used, you are bound to inherit somebody's problems.
