Need advice about the A/c

Hi. I have a 2006 Chevy HHR. A while back the blower motor just stopped working. One hot day my wife, frustrated, began turning the blower speed knob back and forth desperately trying to get the a/c to turn on with no luck. Soon after we smelled burning wires. Flash forward to this past week. I looked at the resistor and one look was all i thought i needed. The resistor wasn't even one made for the car and it was just sitting in the slot half exposed. It looked burnt up. So i bought a new one. Still nothing. I went to the local pull a part scrapyard and got a new blower motor. Still nothing. Just bought a new climate control module and installed it. And STILL nothing. Only thing left i could think it could be would be a blend door actuator or a short somewhere in the wiring. Anyone else have any advice?

Is the problem the blower motor or more than that?

The cause of the problem is probably the butyl patch under the windshield cowl.
Have you checked fuses? Is the compressor running? Has anyone spliced into any wires?
If the fan is not running what would the blend door have to do with anything?
