hhr 2007 2.4L LT

Hi,

I need to know if the 2.4L ecotec engine has the intake and exhaust camshaft resembling a drum or resembling a disk. I will likely buy a whole timing set but the problem is for the same car and engine model ebay sellers offer intake and exhaust camshaft sprokets that resemble both disk and drum. I guess only one type fits my engine. I never opened the engine and don't have qualification to do it, the mechanic will install the new kit when I have it ordered and (of course) delivered.

a drum the 2.4L is VVT.

The sprockets rarely need replacing and the VVT are very expensive.

That "drum' is the variable advance unit for the camshafts It's the gear(sprocket) that is not part of the camshaft. If your engine has VVT (variable valve timing) it will be there.
Chains and their guides are more of a wear item then the sprockets.
Silly of me to ask. How many miles on your car ?
Also, where do you live next to your neighbor ?

I live in Canada. We have worst climate change over a year with all the seasons and worst roads also.
I think if I start giving more love to my HHR it might give me back some reliability for a couple of years. I have start changing pieces and I did an oil cleaning twice in 2 weeks (oil + filter change) to help getting rid of the sludge inside. I am commited now I can't get back the money invested so far I need to get it in order soon before it can breaks.

Cloyed has a specific kit for the 2.4 VVT timing chain , no sprockets.

The one you intended us to see has been sold, but yes it is correct. If you get it tell the mechanic to NOT change the balance sprockets unless he has done it before. It is not as easy as it looks and damage will occur if not done properly.
