Hhr alarm issue pleaee help
Have a 06 lt hhr and it has remote start/keyless entry alarm system which was awesome then my key pad feel apart and broke I bought a new 1 from a online dealer and took it down to Chevy and they said it wouldn't register to my car then he checked key pad or key fob and says it works but the car not picking it up and says don't know if it covered under warranty says gotta pay a fee have it looked at and pay outa pocket if not does any eles ever had this issue or know how to fix it?
to the forum Randy!Sounds like you need to head to another dealer, this one seems a tad clueless.
Your new fob will work with your HHR, but it needs to be matched to the vehicle through a programming procedure that can only be done by a competent dealer or locksmith using a Tech II scan tool and the proper training.
Programming a new fob to an existing vehicle is not possible as a DIY project, so try a different Chevy dealer or GM dealer, expect to pay about $35-$80 for the service.
They said $55 over the phone tech guy said he's done a lot of these hell do it for free since it so easy then that's when he came back and said car won't read he said keyfob is fine and that maybe it's a fuse does they alarm even have a fuse and if so where would it be?
Check your front "12 volt power outlet" (cig lighter). I will bet that it does not work. If that fuse is blown the TechII will not operate. If the "tech" does not know about that, I'd find a new guy.
I use my 12v power outlet all the time for my phone charger and voltage meter with system off and just ac going it never drops under 14v with my system it's low 13s
Well then, you need to get something more than "maybe it's a fuse" from the technician.
The point about the cig lighter fuse is that it also powers the OBDII port. If it's dead you get a "TechII can't connect" error.

Yeah my uncle had a 06 escalade and check engine light came on and I use my code scanner on it and nothing tool didn't come on I though OBDII port was bad he took it to dealer and a dime got stuck in his 12v power out let and blow that fuse so yeah sounds like a lazy tech I'm gonna take it back and see if they take a second look at it just money tight so can't pay a lot of money for something that not my fault
You mentioned you bought the fob from an "on line dealer". Are you saying it was a GM dealer? Are you sure they sold you a REAL GM part?
I'm questioning this because I have recollection that another owner on this forum, purchased what was "guaranteed" to be OEM BUT, in fact was not and could not be programmed. IIRC, his FOB looked like the OEM in all aspects, but had a different circuit board that was NOT compatible.
By the way, could you use punctuation and and sentence structure. It would make your questions a lot easier to read.
