Smile HHR clunking and bumping

, Hello everybody I'm new to this club. I joined because I have a question about my HHR. I bought it new in 2007. I just now changed out my rotors and struts and now I have a horrible clunking feel a bumping sound under the front end when it is cold. after driving for several miles this stops until the car is cold again and it will do the same thing.

Does anyone know what causes this. I'm really frustrated will this thing and I am ready to junk it if I can't find a solution.

The dealer says he can't find anything wrong.

help!

thanks,
ablebart

Well, if you just did your struts and brakes and now it's clunking, it's probably a pretty safe bet that is where your problem lies.

When I originally did my new struts I was in a rush and banged them our real quick, but before I drove even 20 feet I had some banging. I actually forgot to tighten the strut and spring up properly before I installed it back on the car. If I didn't realize what I did, it was not something that could have been easily seen once it was all put back together

its also possible that if temps drop down enough that
-front stabilizer rubbers are cold and clunk, renew bushings.
-trunk door hits the lock, lubricate the latch hook

our hhr clunks always below 15F

I had a thumping noise after changing struts. Everything on struts were tight. I got new sway bar bushings from the dealer ( $5.14 each), as no one else carries them, and installed. All is quiet again.

i have that same problem.first it was a recall with the sway bar bushings and i had them fixed but now its back again.i put mine up on a lift and i bet if you do also youll see that that control arm bushing, sway bar bushing, and one other bushing under there are all cracked.im going to look into aftermarket ones because the stock ones break way to fast
