HHR Cooling Fan

My 2007 HHR is running slightly hotter than usual. I notice that the cooling fan stops when I turn off the engine. Should it continue to run for a while?

Only if the engine is really hot. Don't know about a non-turbo HHR but my cooling fan will only stay on after shutting off the motor if it's over 216F. Otherwise it turns off immediately. I don't recall my old 06 2LT ever getting hot enough to have the fan run after turning it off.

Sleeper, Run it hard for about a mile and then pull over and shut it off.

From the Service Manual

When the engine coolant temperature exceeds 125°C (257°F) at key off, the fan will run for up to 108 seconds.

At 257* I would think you could fry eggs on the motor.. That just seems awfully hot...Too Hot.

Mine's done it a few times on the hotter days. Never ran for more than a few seconds though
