Get somebody with a VOM to check the voltage of the battery (about $5 at Harbor Freight) and inspect the large red wire connection on the side of the under hood fuse box (that wire goes directly to the positive terminal of the battery, one of the nuts on the strut tower is ground)..

Here is a link to check if there are outstanding recalls https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...-status-50716/

Key reset ? Security system ?
So you're going to ignore the suggestions of what we said to check and listen to something that "someone said ? Honestly, our suggestions come from either personal experience with the HHR or knowledge about it.
And still don't see any mention of what the battery voltage is or if you got it retested to find out.
Fwiw. The security system on the HHR's very rarely fail. Problems with it are usually because of a low voltage issue or someone trying to use the wrong key.

I have very little funds. My brother in law is going to check things out more Friday. I have very little physical ability to do anything that's asked. Nevermind I'm not gonna worry about this, I was trying to see if something outside the box was possible before spending unfortunately every last dime I have

A low voltage battery will cause the issues you explain. You need a new battery.

So take it back to auto zone and get a print out? Is it not something they'd notice?

My local AZ has the machine that prints. Either the printer function does not work, or they don't put the paper in it.

What is the point of asking for DIY advice if you are not physically able to carry it out and evidently have no one able to do it for you?

I am paraplegic so I know the feeling. I used to do everything around the car and home now I need help to get in and out of bed.
