My theory is: a previous owner had a security system installed that flashed lights and honked the horn. They removed it before it was sold. They used 3M taps, they tend to cut wires when removed.

You might find that it included an immobilizer, that will cause a big problem. Maybe the red wire you repaired.

Yes, you are the only one to have wires die "for no reason".

The relay I was talking about was the high beam relay.

Well Don, you maybe onto something there.
There are stickers on the windows that say "code security system installed."
Guess that isn't a GM part.

Well good thing to know that I am the only one having the issue and you guys are able to help!

So with your theory this would be why there would be duct tape by the air bag module?
They just hacked the wires off and tied colors back up.
So I need to take that duct tape off and fix the couple wires that are probably separating from eachother?

If you know the name of the system, you should try to find an internet presence, maybe there are installation instructions online. You could figure out what wires might be involved and repaired.

Here is a similar one:

There will probably be a blk/white wire on the BCM x1 pin7 that was cut for the door locks. Might be a white wire on pin 6.

And another white wire on pin 56 of the BCM X2 connector and a pink wire on the ECM x1 pin 32 for remote start.

Maybe I meant xmas presents?

That red wire repair on the BCM is indeed the immobilizer that pin is "ignition 1 voltage" The other end should be nearby, it was cut so that the module could connect to each end.

Probably hidden in this bundle

Cup holder

Is someone able to lift up their cup holder and post a picture of what they see under it?
Trying to locate this immobilizer, but coming up short and not positive that the duct tape that it is something someone added.

Started fixing the wiring with soldering the wires together and using heat shrink tubing to repair instead of butt splice connectors.

The stock car does not have an immobilizer.

Anything under the cup holder area should be bolted neatly to the car. The SDM, behind the shifter and the rollover sensor in front of it.

The tape in front of it looks normal?
I am working on pulling the center console out.
Just have to remove the nuts on the front and I believe the bolts on the back and then I can get it completely out of there.
I will have another question once we get this one figured out.

Don, do you still own the hhr?
