How I cured my wind noise issue.
How I cured my wind noise issue.
I had the issue of wind noise that I noticed in several other posts and looked at my 2007 LT2 to see what the cause was and how to fix without having to spend a bunch of $$$$$. It was on both front doors and the other day driving to class in a pretty hard wind at 70 or so poked around where the door seal was and found the noise was coming in from the top, rear area of the door frame. At home I looked closely and noted edge of the molded plastic cover for the window air bag was not inside the door seal. So I used a dull screw driver and after several tries got it inserted. A test drive showed NO wind noise noe but with a longer drive the edge came out soooooo?
It was because the cover was a tad too tight to fully fit in place correctly.
I figured that was not a good place to drill and put in a couple screws so I broke out the tube of my favorite fixer, GOOP. I used a nozzle, pried the cover away slightly, added a small bit of the adhesive and reset the cover in the correct position. I used a truck bed ratcheting load bar to press both sides in the correct place and after a night of drying the covers are in place inserted into the seal as they should be AND a test showed no wind noise!
Sounded simple but the slot molded into the door seal was impossible to see even with my free Harbor Freight LED light and this allowed a gap to form.
