I saw no need for the rears to need brakes and presumed all the braking was done on the front.

Hence why I am here trying to LEARN... learn more about my car and what I can learn to do, to save money on its maintenance. As even though I may not know much about cars, I am a technically inclined individual and tend to do a lot of various DIY projects around the home...

I of course have since researched the matter on my brakes further, and understand how I was wrong on this.
I'd really suggest you check for some night school courses or such in your local area on Auto Maintenance. Working on your vehicle can be a lot of fun, and yup, you can save a pile of money on top of it.

You will likely learn a whole lot taking one of those courses - and they make it fun to boot.

Without a good understanding of the use of tools, safety issues, and a basic understanding of car maintenance and repair, you will likely find yourself playing 20 questions here in resolving an issue/question.

Grab yourself a good after-market manual as well - like one of the ones detailed here - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/chilton-new-release-paperback-repair-manual-44242/

They include a good section on basic tools and procedures - and can be very helpful. You won't regret getting one of them.

Try paying better attention to the date and time stamps on peoples replies when they correct and apologize for their mistakes...

Oh, you expect us to go and double check the time stamps? I'll get right on that.

I have a 2008 HHR and just recently started hearing a clicking noise when and it gets louder when you accelerate. Any idea what this could be?

Hard to say without more details. Like where the noise is for one.

I had a similar condition in my 2007 one year ago. Location of the noise is important, but in my case it was a bad right front hub bearing; which required replacement of the hub assembly.

Ok the noise is located in the engine area. I have had 2 people check it out and the code that comes up has to do with the knock sensor (but sensor is not bad) my boyfriend thinks it could be the pistons or something to that nature since I was putting the regular unleaded and not premium. He "thinks" it is sticking but not sure. He has put an additive in my fuel and I am now putting the premium in, plus he put a cleaner in the oil and no change. Sometimes the "ticking" softens but then it gets louder.

How do you know the sensor is not bad?

Sounds more like valve train noise to me.

Get a professional to look at it, not "people".

You would be much better served on this forum by starting your own thread. This particular thread really has nothing to do with your problem.
