The security light on the dash would be on, I think.

Check all of the fuses & relays under the hood that have CRNK,CRANK,IGN or the like in their name. Especially #5, #34, #51, #62.
You need to know how to use a VOM to check anything electrical and this is not the place.

I'm with donbrew, is the security light on the dash lit? I believe it looks like a lock could be your keys are no longer sync'd with the car. We looked at a new HHR back 4 years ago and they sent it home with wife... she turns it off, I go out to look it over and drive it and ...won't start...tried jumping it, all that stuff.. tech from dealer comes up telling me I don't know how to jump start a car...I am a very experienced mechanic although not my trade anymore..he slips the key with transponder for the car out of his pocket and ...it started...they wanted us to buy a mailbu instead so they played this game. I'm find out whats required to get a working key and then reprogram yours to the car...

 

That is why the last thing i wanted to do is send it to a dealer, I do not trust any of them. But, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.....
