Ignition Problems

Has anyone had a problem with their key not wanting to come out of the ignition? My started in my 2006 HHR about a month ago. It is intermittently but occasionally it will turn back to the accessory point but won't go to the point where you can remove the key. My husband also said that the steering doesn't seem right to him especially if you are trying to turn sharply parallel parking.

You are new. Look up at the top of the page, just below the main banner. There lies the "search" tool, which will search this forum for you and provide 6 or 7 pages of possibilities.

That "search" button is brand new to the board, and it works!

Welcome to the forum. There was a recall for an ignition cylinder replace because of stuck keys. I don't know if it aplies to the 06. Check with your local dealer. We have a 09 and a 10. I hope this helps.

Also there is a slot were it is under the steering column it is a small plastic square you can pop out and put your finger and find the white plunger on it push in and you can remove the key.. Anyway it has to do with the shifter not engaging to release the key ,either that the ignition switch is bad ,both are cover under warranty if not mistaken .. my 07 did the same thing..

Thumbs up just happened to us yesterday...

Our key got stuck in our '09 LS (manual transmission) last night...my wife came home from work, couldn't turn off the car. We drove to the nearby Chevrolet dealer where they kept the car inside all night after killing it since it is a manaul transmission.

Got a call at 10 a.m. this morning that the car was repaired, it was an ignition lock cylinder & covered under a recall by Chevrolet! NO CHARGE! GREAT SERVICE & back on the road in a little over 12 hours!!
