Ignition switch cylinder went ka-put!
About 2 weeks after my car was repaired I received my notice/recall in the mail.
I filled out the forms and sent a copy of my repair bill to GM. They called me a few days later and told me I qualified for reimbursement and that they would be sending a check to cover what I paid out of pocket.
Within 5 days I had the check in hand. Awesome service!
I just wish the letter would have come before I had the problem!

Have you been trouble free since?

OK, called local dealer & they run my Vin, told me mine was not on the recall list..
I mentioned about the TSB special provision.. And was told my Ignition must be having problems for them to replace it..
Can anyone shed some light here.. I'm not having problems, but thought better to replace soon, & avoid any possible headaches.

Service department at Tom Benson Chevrolet in San Antonio, Texas told me today that the warranty on the ignition has been extended but it must break before they will fix it. (under warranty)
I guess that may save them some $$ in the long run but it can put us owners in a bind when it happens.

It says, bolded, "Do not take your vehicle to your Chevrolet dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above."
Interesting. They've identified this to the point that letters have been sent out to owners, but they won't fix it until it breaks, essentially leaving us stranded when it does. My nearest Chevy dealer is 20 miles away, as the Nissan dealership bought the one in town.
I like my HHR, I always have, but this casts a spector of impending failure just when I might need the vehicle the most.
My 2012 Kia Soul looks better now. At least I can drive that if my HHR locks up on me.
My windshield washer pump quit working last week.
So my cylinder froze up last night leaving a friend's house. My wife and I were fortunate to be able to borrow her car then arrange a tow the next day.
The good news is that the cylinder was fixed and on a Saturday too! The bad news is that the DIC settings switch on the steering wheel doesn't call up any information.....I guess that they left off a wire etc.
Hopefully this is an easy fix.
