Second what Ramos said - recall is hanging on my fridge. Dealer said they are out of stock on parts for approx. a week, but I`m not concerned as of yet.

Car has approx 27k. Just got the door bottoms repainted and I suspect a wheel bearing is beginning to fail, but it`s been the best car I`ve owned in a long, long time....

I worked (retired) for GM Oshawa Reliability Quality Assurance. At one time we attempted to have written into the owner's handbook(s) an advisory not to hang extra multiple keys with the ignition key in the mast jack (steering column) lock cylinder. A few extra ounces can be the equivalent of a few pounds on the lock cylinder from the gravity pendulum effect of swinging keys when in motion.

I am glad to read you really like your HHR. I hope the recall will go smooth when the parts come in. Don't hesitate to contact me in the future.

My key hung up today on my '09. Good thing I had a full tank of gas and it was a weekday. Soz, I call my dealer, headed his direction (1 1/2 hours east) and apparently there is now a recall for '09/10 HHRs on file. Somewhere else I noted, those that have paid for this malfunction can now be reimbursed up to sometime in 2014. Less than an hour after arrival, I was back on the road home. Whew! My dealer was awesome! Some bar in ignition cylinder loosened and jambed it up, requiring cylinder replacement. Can't say enough about my dealer, Superior Chevrolet in Merriam Ks. I was elated!

Yup, I was just at my dealer today and they told me about the recall. I'm going in next week to have it done... before it craps out on me

U.S. recall ?

But if it is an official recall for the US, shouldn't we get a notice in the mail ?

Yes you will, but they said it just came out. Since it just came out, it's going to take a while to get the info out to everyone

They said it could take a couple of weeks to a couple of months for a notice. You can always go down to your dealer and get it taken care of before you even get the letter. Just give them a call and set up an appointment

Anyone who wants to know if their vehicle is part of the recall can supply me with the last 8 of their VIN and I can tell you. Letters haven't been mailed yet.

I went to the dealer. Now, just waiting on the refund!
