how did you get loose the socket? The one behind the cluster.
Mi cluster is hanging.
Thanks in advance.

Note: mi cluster is completely out of signals, when the engine is on.

Hope you got it figured out. I missed seeing your post. It's a tricky connector. There's a clip and you need to lift a lever for it to release

Cluster reboots

My cluster does the same (2011 hhr) .... I've noticed that it flashes in a pattern.....could it be flashing a code, do you think?

It now has 125K miles, and I've started noticing the instrument cluster turns off and reboots intermittently. There seems to be no circumstances that make it more or less likely to do it, but it usually does it at least a few times during each drive cycle of about 10 miles. The issue started about two months ago and has been getting progressively more frequent. When it reboots, I hear a soft buzzing noise from the cluster. All gauges go to zero, and warning lights come on, like they do when the car is started.

I've looked here and on other sites for information. I have re-seated the underhood fuse/relay block and checked grounds. I have pressed, tapped (sometimes pounded, lol!) on the instrument cluster, dash, under dash, fuse block, etc. Nothing I do will trigger any response. It does it when it damn well pleases! There are no codes, and also no other symptoms. The problem seems isolated to the cluster. At this point, I'm thinking I should pull the cluster and check/re-seat the connector on the back. If that doesn't do it, replace the cluster. What do you think?

I got a used cluster at the junkyard. That fixed the issue, but now the odometer is frozen because the VIN in the replacement cluster is different. Now I'm trying to find a way to find a way to get the mileage to display without paying $150

If you can wait a bit on it. Get hold of these guys about doing it. Send them the modules and they do the flash for you and send it back.

My 2011 started with the dash lites just flickering a bit when colder and in about 8 months went to not working at all.
Only thing that bothered me was not having a fuel gauge.
The fix was to take it to a speedo repair guy who replaced some of the components inside. I'm guessing they were the caps. It seems that a lot of electronic equip of that era suffered from that.
And this is not an uncommon problem with clusters of all GM products.
All well for almost a year now. Occasionally I will have a flicker at 600 rpm idle, and I'm guessing it may be from low alternator amperage output at low rpm with lites and a/c on.
