intermittent hard shifting

Hello,

I was having serious hard shifting issues and replaced the shift solenoids which did not resolve my issue so I replaced the transmission all together with a used one. Now it will randomly hard shift, not nearly as often as before and it seems not as rough. I did have a mass airflow sensor issue and I put a new sensor in but still I randomly get hard shifting. I can turn off the engine and restart after 5 seconds and the issue goes away.

It seems to happen most often when I accelerate fast from a red light or when I pass another vehicle or when I am on the interestate traveling at higher speeds. There was a MAF code before I replaced the MAF but no other codes are showing.

2.2 or 2.4. There was no 2.1 in the HHRs.
Mileage ? How long have you owned it ?

Well. That sure sounds like a CEL or trouble code shifting issue. Did you pull the codes or are you saying the CEL isn't lit ? Even if the CEL is off there could still be a stored code(s). I suggest you pull the codes again.

Thanks, 2010 2.2 automatic. P0102

As suggested, pull those codes again , just to confirm the MAF is functioning correctly. Look for any possible air leaks at the elbow to the throttle body.

Your MAF sensor has an electrical problem, maybe a loose connection or loose wire. You describe the exact symptoms of a malfunctioning MAF sensor.

Smack the sensor while engine idling. Does it stumble or stall. Sensor is bad if it does. If it don't the sensor may still be bad.

Do you still have the P0102 code, or did you clear it, or did it clear itself?
