I am helping with a 2010 LT with a 2.2l. The hazard lights come on intermittently when driving over bumps. I don't know where to start. I know it's a short or loose connection somewhere. Where do I start.?

 

Pull the waterfall off by putting your fingers in the AC vents and yanking; then look at the button connection.

Thanks, I was joking. I thought the response from Donbrew was a little tongue and cheek, which I appreciate. I have had these dashes apart many times, but because of their fragility I have never tried to just pull the top out. My biggest question was how the hazard circuit was wired and if it was activated by the bcm. I have replaced a dic before because of odometer not counting off miles. The replacement did the same thing. I assume to prevent fraud. This makes me question what is programming and what is simple circuitry.
I'm glad to see I'm a full member now and just an FNG anymore. Is there a badge or certificate or something.

Technically speaking the switch is really a sensor that tells the BCM o do something. The BCM won't do anything if it is not told to do it. Like a loose wire touching something.
99% of the "computer is broken" complaints are really a wire problem. In this case the signal the switch sends is ground, if the whte wire touches ground or the black/white wire the hazard lights get activated. (the fret wire is for the LED)

 

Another basic question is, do the modules control grounds. Are the grounds the switch legs?

The switch connects to ground. When you push it the 2 wires connect.
