It's finally over for me
Count me as a satisified HHR owner. My 2007 LS five speed, in over three years has had one warrantee repair, that for an instrument cluster that was occasionally flakey, That was replaced with no hassle. Still has original brakes, tires etc at 22000 on the clock, but considerable more on the tires, brakes and suspension, since it is often towed behind our motorhome.
Count me in on the happy and satisfied side! My 2007 2LT Panel has over 50K on it and all that has been done, is replace a discolored bowtie emblem and turn the rotors under warranty. No squeaks, rattles, good fit and finish, 30+ MPG, fun to drive and gets more attention than my '67 Red Camaro RS/SS big block ragtop. Sorry you guys have had trouble, but it's not the norm!
I don't understand someone bagging on Chevrolet after numerous good experiences and one bad one. All car lines have their bad apples, including supposedly "reliable" ones like Honda. My recently traded '06 Civic was in for several warranty repairs, rattled like hell, and was last seen being driven away with a worn shifter. There's a lemon law for a reason.
I'll admit, mine has had more than it's fair share of warranty work, but then again, I'm nitpicky. It's had quite a few rattles and clunks, but overall, I really love this car and it's great. It's just my personality, and it really shows that. People see cars in the parking lot and can tell which one is mine...it just fits me, and that's the biggest reason I love it. I love the looks, the style, the price, and everything about it. So what if it rattles once it's older. It's a cheap car, not a Cadillac. I will admit my Lumina doesn't rattle whatsoever and it's 12 years old, but again, it was a nicer car at the time. Find me a Cavalier that age that doesn't rattle.
I wouldn't hesitate to take my HHR anywhere. Just took it to Florida and back last month, and not a single problem (besides the rattle, which was missing bolts the dealer didn't put in).
Like I said, I've had quite a bit of suspension warranty work, but hey...it's a first model year car. Those things are expected. I love my HHR, and that's what matters!
