Sorry to hear your HHR is under the weather, looking back on my experience dealing with GM on a standard transmission in a new Z28 I owned. I had the car just short of two months when the clutch went out, the labor was covered but not the parts. Less then a month later the clutch failed again, same story but I paid for an aftermarket clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing. When I picked the car up I had trouble getting it into gear, the service manager tried with no luck and said the synchronizers were to blame. They ate the cost and rebuilt a brand new transmission, two weeks out of the shop while out of town the clutch failed again. I pulled into the local dealer gave them all the paperwork and my story. They called GM and they replaced the parts and covered labor. Seven hundred miles later I pull into El Paso, Texas clutch slipping synchronizers not meshing and a massive leak. After inspection and the reported finding I was told I’d have to pay labor and parts to get the repairs. I was outraged their excuse was upon inspection they found a silicone sealant used to seal a gasket that no GM dealers use for repairs. Thus I had to have tried to repair it on my own or have had to taken it to an outside shop. Being I couldn’t get anyone from the dealer or GM to take responsibility. I went to a local shop and paid less for a new four speed with the clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing to be replaced. Letters were written from the local dealership where I bought the car, from the other dealership that worked on the car and from my aunt who was a retired executive from GM. GM refused responsibility based on the one opinion from the dealership in El Paso, that a non GM product was used on the transmission. I doubt you would have the same luck in a lifetime but I say make sure you cover your tail and get it in writing that if you ever have a transmission failure in the future their was an issue when you had the car only a few weeks.

Good luck!
