Good suggestion from GDZHHR...

If you do a little research and check "things" out like you know what you are doing you'll probably be ahead of the salesperson. Based on some discussions here, most prospective owners knew more about the car than the sales people

Still need to mention....

2-3 dealers here advertise in stock 2007 HHR's at about a $2000-2800 discount (including GM rebate). Depending on options, model, etc... for example...

List....$16470.... selling for $13995
List....$17750.... selling for $13988
List....$16470.....selling for $13888

Pays for your trip !!!

I`ve seen a couple posts with the advice that someone opens the hood and start checking fuses and such... I`m not too sure if that`s an exceptable pratice or something that your everyday dealer would like or let a customer do, just walking off the street.
I know I wouldn`t like to see someone doing it. There`s plenty of oppurtunity to start fiddling around under the hood after it`s yours and at home, not at the dealership looking to buy.
I agree that a lot of people have found loose fuses, I did, anyone who knows about it through this site, should be patient enough to wait until they`re in a good location where they can thoroughly go over their new/pre-owned ride.
If you find something of concern, the dealer is still there. Don`t panic...

Also, their unwillingness to check fuses, the ECM, and the battery made me a little uneasy.

I guess If I want a perfect one, or almost perfect I better buy new; but, my check will not cover a brand new one without a down payment.

Call me crazy but it seems like the dealer did not want to sell it. We offered 13.5K for it even with the dents and a reflecter broken in back. He wouldn't budge so we walked.

Ah well, maybe black is not meant to be my color...

I thought 3rd time would be a charm...

still searching for Gomez, that won't break my very small bank...
Well, even if it's certified pre-owned, it's still used. Very few dealers will bother with fixing a couple of dents, anyway. However, most WILL fix broken tailights/reflectors since that's more of a safety issue.

Be patient. If it's a traditional dealership and they get closer to the end of the month without selling it, they'll call YOU.
