Wow, I'm surprised that the HHR remotes don't last. That really sucks when you consider it's the only way to use the remote start feature we had to buy with an automatic transmission.

I just recently replaced the battery on the remote for my 8-year-old Ford. It still works great but the lock motor in the driver's door isn't working too well anymore. I just use the key now and have always locked it with the button on the door.

remote battery

Mine went out the other day too. I figured it would go quick as it is used so much more with the remote start. Does anybody know what battery goes in it??

It could be written on the back, or since it`s not functioning, open it up and see, DUH...

Some of the remotes retain memory if you replace the battery within 15 - 30 seconds, but not sure on the HHR remote. If yours quits, check the battery contact by turning the battery without taking it out. It works on your TV remote..

Yep...the battery number is printed on the back of the key fob. Still working fine, so it must not have been in there snug enough on the first go round. Also this is probably one of the least inexpensive things I have done to my HHR since I purchased it.

I took NEMO in a while back due to the Main FOB not working, but as luck would have it it was working that day.
Well today it started again, after work I took both FOBs in.
When I got there it was still not working, then one of the Sales Guys (who owns a HHR) saw me there, he told me about his wood grain dash kit he got (after he saw NEMO a few weeks ago),well one thing lead to another, and now the FOB was working. He decided to change the Battery, upon opening the FOB he found a lose connection. He then went to the Service Advisor (who was very busy) had him write up a ticket, went to the parts section and came out with a new FOB. He then drove aound all of the bays to find one open and had the Tech stop what he was doing and reprogram both FOBs. Now that is Service, of course he does have a HHR, in fact this is his second one. He drives over 110 miles every day and put on the miles,so he is on his second one. He is now doing mods to his HHR thanks to NEMO.

One way to save your battery is to lock the doors with the switch on the door instead of the remote. That would mean half as many uses as before. The alarm still sets and you actually save your battery because the lights don't flash and the horn doesn't blast. It used to be a way to tell others you have remote access. Now everyone has it so it's no longer a novelty!

You must have your HHRs options set differently than mine. If I lock the doors manually using the door switch and then shut the doors my lights still flash after like 10 or 15 seconds to let me know that the locks engaged. The horn honks only if I hit the key fob lock button twice.
