Leak? or just condensation?
Leak? or just condensation?
So I've been having fogged up/frozen over windows for most of the winter, and I've been dismissing this as likely caused by the snow brought into the vehicle. I empty out the deep rubber floor mats as often as I can to keep down the volume of water that can be evaporated to cause the fogging, but I'm beginning to think that there may be more to it than that.

shows the VIN on the windscreen.

is my battery, covered in ice.

is the space between the rear wheelwell and the rear corner, looking down from the access panel.

is the pedal box, dripping, as is most of the steering gear under there.

maybe this isn't helping, it's the plenum drain in the driver's front wheel well, blocked solid with ice.

I nearly bought an AWD Dodge Magnum as my new winter vehicle, but the thought of subjecting a fairly high dollar vehicle to the environment here put me off, at least the HHR is galvanised, but the effects of the icemelt used here affects almost every component.

Our first HHR had actual water droplets on the dash on a few mornings. I also thought it to be condensation until it started staining the headliner. We now have another HHR and have such bad leaks in the car that I have a post here about it as well. I should note that the leak would likely be undetected by a less anal person. I suggest everyone take a closer look.
