Unhappy liftgate not unlocking

hello from Brampton Ontario Canada- I have an 06 LT and the liftgate does not open with the remote. My friendly GM dealer wants $119. to check it out. I think I'll do my own investigation. Anyone with this issue or insights?

Is it not unlocking? I dont think they offered an automatic gate on the HHR, so it wouldnt lift open with the remote.

It does not unlock. The rest of the doors open and the fuse is good. The only way I can open it is from the inside with a screw driver through the small access as described in the manual.

I would suggest taking off the hatch panel and making sure the switch is actually connected. Did you buy it new or used and is it under warranty? If it is they should fix it free of charge.

No warranty left. I bought it off lease from a GM dealer with only 20,000 km. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take the inside panel off when it warms up a bit.

Back in 06 they had a few of the latch switches go on the blink. the switch had to be replaced.
