the LIST
the LIST
on my vehicle, purchased in october of 08 (09 LS half panel) ive already have had:
-battery died: replaced
-faulty airbag module for passenger seat (warning display notice): new part on order
-loud "crunching" sound from front right suspension while entering driveways and slow speed bumps: mysteriously dissapeared when dealer looked at vehicle
-intermittent driver door lock function- sometimes it unlocks, sometimes it doesnt: dealer couldnt reproduce issue
on the 06 1LT i bought my mom, gm recertified with 12mo 12K mile bumper to bumper warrenty and the remainder of the 5yr/100K (its got like 57K left to go), i was detailing it and when i was wiping down the chrome door handles, the chrome peeled and cut my finger (obvious fault in craftmanship and a safety concern) contacted the dealership service manager, said sure bring it in, its covered as a replaceable part-- later when i went to collect on the repair they changed their tune and said NO its a cosmetic issue thats not warrentied-- BUT NOOOOOOooo a freeking plastic flap for the center dashboard compartment has a problem with staying closed and they make a recall--- I CUT MY FINGER--- you would think that falls way below standard of being "safe"
sorry, but GM really lost a lot of respect when a greatly used piece of equipment has a possibility of cutting someones hand under normal use and its not covered under warrenty. scratched paint, a bent fender, a damaged license plate cover due to parking too close to something--- those are cosmetic repairs-- chrome peeling off because it wasnt bonded correctly is faulty craftsmanship-- and obviously has capability to do severe damage to someones unexpecting hand. SO i went over the dealers head and contacted GM's 800# and told them what happened.... again- its cosmetic and not covered-- ITS NOT COSMETIC- I CUT MY HAND!!!!
does anyone agree with me, other than shutting your hand in the door, anything that fails and causes bodily injury under normal use should be covered under warrenty right?? i mean cleaning a vehicle is normal right? putting a little extra shine in chrome is normal right? cutting your hand while wiping wax off of a door handle isnt normal right? or does everyone have hands of leather calouses and no blood?
SORRY GM... but if this is the kind of "warrenty" i have to look forward to for the next 5 years/100K miles its no wonder youre going belly up- i feel sorry for all the GM employees that now have to look for new employment
man i feel duped cause i spent an extra grand in buying that fancy bumper to bumper warrenty for my 09 half panel-- think im gonna go and cash that back in for a refund and use it to customize my 97 seville, probably the last time ill ever buy a new vehicle again ~_~

I can see where they might think the chrome was damaged somehow, rather than defective. Try taking it to another dealer and see what they say.
I kinda felt the same way when I first got mine. I had the same passenger airbag problem, and also had the rear brake lights go completely out. Both issues were fixed with new modules. I've been very happy since and do not regret buying it.

sorry didnt elaborate on the chrome-- its peeling from the back side of the handle, right where the crease of your palm meets your fingers and right where your finger tips grab the bottom side (that is if you open it like youre holding a hammer) but since the doors open very easy with the handle design, about the middle of the fingers actually touch the top back edge which is where the chrome is starting to peel back -- and anyone thats ever been cut by chrome plating knows its almost worse than a razor blade cut, plus chromium is a toxin in the blood stream... i still dont know how this could NOT be considered safety related ~_~
On the chrome, you're talking extended warranty vs factory 3/36. If it was still under that warranty, I am sure they would have replaced it. It still sucks that they won't help you out cause that is one heck of a weird problem.
Wow, what a list. I have not had any of those problems, but....
Now for my list:
- Returned vehicle (5) time in the past 2 months for the tire pressure monitoring system. Still not working properly.
- Steering column replaced (this coming week)
- Instrument cluster replaced (last week)
I must say that I have NOT exaggerated any of the above issues, they are real and the dates are real!!
Oh ya, my vehicle has only 8200 miles on the odometer!!
