Sorry to hijack but is there a fuse to pull so that the sunroof will no longer operate? Or is the fuse tied in with other things?

Have you looked in your Owner Manual? Link in my sig.
Mine says #20 on the BCM is the "s roof".

Yes, there is a fuse. I did exactly what you want to do, because it wasn't closing reliably. I don't remember which fuse but I found it in the manual.
