Manual SS tranny, no reverse!
Manual SS tranny, no reverse!
I had something happen that has been bothering me...
Yesterday I went to park my manual SS, I went to put the car into reverse (after pulling up the reverse lockout) and the shifter easily went into the reverse position, with much less resistance than usual, but no reverse! I tried this several times, but each time with the same results. It was only after a few tries of going into 1st and then back into reverse it finally went in. When it finally went into reverse I could feel the extra (normal) resistance.
It seems to work okay for now, but should I be concerned and take it to the dealer, or is this something that can just happen once in a while??

You may have had some debris in the levers at the top of the transmission that fell out when you moved the cables by working the shift lever in the car.Monitor it and if happens again, take it in to your dealer.

She's got an appointment to go into the dealer Monday AM.
Mine does it as well sometimes. I shift into 1st and move just a tad and then I can put it into reverse. I think it gets caught between gears and doesn't allow the shift forks to go in reverse. I've also seen the same thing on my friends Ford Focus.
When it won't go into reverse, that's what I have found to work as well....
