Mark your wires!

In the "duh"... mark your wires category.. I was wondering why my traction control wasn't working. It was snowing, and I wanted to turn it off to see what difference it made. Pushing the button only made the "mph" on the display dim.. but didn't light the dash light.. hmmm

Flash back to last month when I had the waterfall off to modify the area for the fog light switch to accept an aftermarket switch (seeing that I didn't want to go through the hassle of reprogramming the computer). Everything was unplugged. After the mod, everything was plugged back in, but maybe the connection just wasn't "snapped" in place. So I checked that today. Connection was tight.. but what's this? The 'open' connector for the fog light is the same size, shape and pinout as the traction control. You guessed it... plugs were swapped. Thanks Chevy!

This is actually a "Believe it, or not" It has happened before.

That is the one place where they did not idiot proof the plugs.

:-) A simple tag on the wires is all that's needed. I relied on memory, which, of course, proved to be defective because I'm an idiot...

I use bread tags, colour coded one on the female side one in the male, then I use a sticky note to mark specific connections like the ECM , TCM plugs
