I can appreciate your frustration with these two threads. You think we should close this one and start a third?

 

Donbrew, I'm sorry with your frustration, but I have NO idea what the wiring under the hood is, and I find it better to ask questions, and know, than to try, mess something up, and have to pay boat loads to get it fixed.

 

I never said anything about frustration. I just thought, along with everybody else, that the subject was totally covered in your first thread. The fact is, you do know what that wire is and why it is there, you just don't know it.

I will try to 'splain again: The large black bundle with the cut end used to have the 4-way (purple) connector that plugs into the throttle on the end of it. That connector was cut off when you had the TSB work done that 843de cited. Then to continue the TSB repair, a new 4-way connector with 4 new wires going to the ECM was installed, thus bypassing the original sub-harness. The sub-harness is now just a bundle of extra wires under the hood not connected to anything. They did not replace the entire ECM wiring harness because GM would not pay them the couple thousand bucks for the job VS. $25 for a perfectly good repair.

If you remove the ECM splash shield (the Darth Vader looking thing) you should be able to physically trace the new wire bundle that is attached to your throttle to the ECM connector with your finger and see the cut ends of the original wires.

Now, if that is not concise enough, maybe you should get your repair paperwork in hand and go to the dealer that did the TSB work and ask them to show you EXACTLY what was done. And now for something completely different.
