If you get one of hose Computer Memory Keeper things, it should give enough power to open the tailgate. The things I'm talking about plug into the cig lighter outlet and have 9-volt battery, I've seen them at every auto parts store I've been in.

I think he is talking about one of these. You plug one into your dead cars cig and the other into a running car. That should give you some juice to open the gate or at least jump start it to drive to an Auto Zone or something, where they can put a new battery in for you (at no charge if I recall)...

You said you got the front door open, didn't you? That would mean you could A) get to the cig lighter/power outlet, or B) open the hood to use the "under hood" jump start points to attach a jump battery.

Look in your Owner Manual for jump start directions. Manuals are available online here. Basically that box under the hood that looks like a battery attach the RED cable to the point under the RED plastic cover marked +, then attach the BLACK cable to the top strut mount bolt marked -. DONOT attach the black cable to the other point on the box ONLY attach it to the frame ground. It is explained much better in the Manual, and most cars still have the instruction stickers on the under hood fuse box.

Not exactly, it's just a 9-volt battery that plugs into the power outlet, just enough to hold power to the computer memory.

.

I got ya.....

But for her, she maybe better off getting a jump start and taking it some place to have a battery put in..
Next question is, why did the battery die? I would look into that, you don't kill another one...

You can open the lift gate from the inside. There is an opening low on the door inside that will allow you to open the liftgate. Good Luck. This is how junk yards open rear hatches.
