need help now with brakes.
Just installed EBC red stuff pads and sloted and dimpled rotors today. My brake pulsation got worse then with the factory parts. These are brand new not even 5 miles on them since install . Everthing was torqued down as needed so what gives. I could of kept my warped factory rotors and saved a bunch of money. The black coating is not even fully worn off yet and there shaking when I hit the petal. Please help.
check and see if it's not coming from the rear. drive and slowly pull up on the parking brake. if it coming from the rear like mine is you should feel a vibration. don't hit the brake pedal at the same time
even easier-
if the steering wheel shakes, it's the fronts. If the seat/your butt shakes, it's the rears.
other possibility is the rotors that you got were warped out of the box from extended shelf life and poor storage practices.(yes, it can/has happened)

You need to properly break in the EBC pads. Read all the instruction they gave you in the box and you will find it will take a few days and miles to seat them in.
Also the rotors you have that Anodizied coating on them as well as a oiled coating or some other protective coating. until you wear it off it can and will pulse.
You need to clean the rotor out of the box and you need to seat in the pads to the rotors. If you have not done this they will act a little odd.
Note most EBC pads have a layer of break in material that removes the glazing and other things on a rotor and will bed them in much better as few people will bed other pads correctly. This is one of their selling points.
I would take some brake cleaner and clean the rotors and drive it till they bed in. The rotor ahould have a clean non black surface and the pads should have their break in matterial worn off in 300 miles.
Also not the instructions on the slotted rotors as they will also make some noise.
5 miles is not enough to do the job. I beleive EBC recomends 300 miles of normal driving.
yes you can get a warped rotor out of the box but it is rare on a good quality rotor.
I was in a small meeting with the owner of EBC and he explained the break in as very immportant with his pads. They have tried to make it easy but 5 miles will not do it.

i know 5 miles will not break them in but I never installed new pads and rotors and had a vibration like this. Its like the stock ones when the were warped its that bad. I did not want to keep driving and make it worse. I guess I'll put it back together and see if it gets better. I sent an e-mail to EBC but I'm still waiting for a reply. I'll go get some brake cleaner and try it again.

Also the coating on the rotor is similar to a oil cataminated rotor and it will not brake even. It will slip and grab. Make it feel liek a pulse. 5 miles never even brought the pads to operating temp.
Read all the instructions with the pads and If you have EBC rotor read them too.
You also may have been better off with green pads on the street unless your hard on brakes or do any autocrossing. THe red is a little more agressive and is not intended for normal driving. Some people like them some don't.
I sell EBC at work and use them myself and we never have any issues with their products like I do with some others.
Your not going to find a much better pad out their.
