Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Troubleshooting, looking for ideas and advice My 2008 HHR SS Is overheating, I checked the top radiator hose and it’s not solid so it’s not the head gasket . What other things could be causing this problem ?? I replaced the thermostat 3 times once with a regular one then again when the performance one it came with came in. And changed it again because it didn’t fix the problem figures maybe it was a defective one but the newest one didn’t fix it either. Going to just take the thermostat out now and run it to see if it changes anything. Then I was gonna try the water pump. Anybody have some other ideas. I need it fixed . I love my car and need it back on the road ASAP. This is my badass baby , please help
You asked this same question 2 times a year ago. You never came back to those threads. Now you’re back with some kind of weird Poll ?
We gave you some answers back then. I suggest you go find another site to bother. Maybe the ZZP folks.
yeah I didn’t receive any notification that anyone replied back before this time so if you can please give me the advice I’d really appreciate it. Please

Over heating issues, 1st what thermostat did you install, AC Delco 131-158 , 180 degrees F is the only thermostat designed for the car. The cooling system may have air trapped in it, I’ll attach a link for you.
T-stats DO NOT cause overheating, unless the wax escapes the brass cylinder or you have the wrong one. Their job is to keep the temp ABOVE 180F. Running without one will cause a P0128 code, which will cause hard shifting and no AC.
Causes of overheating include: clogged radiator, clogged heater core or some other obstruction in the coolant path or broken cooling fan or a bad pressure cap or low coolant level (check under pressure cap) or a bad water pump.

What does "I checked the top radiator hose and it’s not solid so it’s not the head gasket" mean?
