In need of some HELP!

WHat's up everyone. Just found the site yesterday and I'm looking for any help that I could get. I have a 2006 HHR. I bought it used. I had brakes put on the thing before it left the showroom. I have had it back in the shop 4 times in the last 2 months for the braking system. I don't know what the problem is but when I drive and try to come to a stop no matter what speed I get a pulsating feeling in the wheel and a grinding sound as well. Now with my very little knowledge about cars, I always knew when you get that feeling in the steering wheel it was either the rotors were warped or the pads were shot or both. Again in the last 2 months it has gone into the shop for the same problem. I could only go like a week to 10 days and the problem would start again. Is there anyone out there that had this problem? Does anyone know of any recalls involving the braking system? Anybody know where I could find a list of all the recalls for my car?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you taking it back to the dealer or just to a local garage? Either way, what are they doing to it every time you take it in?

are they resurfacing or replacing the rotors? If they are trying again and again to resurface the rotors, insist that they replace them instead.
Another possibility is that one of the calipers is sticking slightly and overheating(and warping) the rotors. Have they looked closely at them? Do you notice a burning smell after high-speed highway driving?

I have been bringing to the dealership. when I bought the car I was driving home and had the pulsating like the rotors were bad. I brought it back that same day (withing the hour) and had them look at it. They told me there was a little surface rust on the rotors and they cleaned them up. I bought the car with 31,xxx miles on it. I now have 37,xxx miles on it and I have this problem still. The last 4 times I had it in the shop it sayd on my receipts the the pads and rotors were replaced. But I would think if they were replaced 4 times in the last 6k plus miles then it would have fixed the problem. I dont know this is getting pretty ridiculous...

They need to check the other components like the calipers. If they are dragging, it will kill the rotors.

make sure they clean the hubs and check rotor runout.

Never heard of surface rust causing anything more than a squeal from the brakes...

Warped rotors is a common problem. Though those of us that have experienced it don't have it 4 times in two months. Mine started pulsating at 10k miles, the dealer cut the rotors and put new pads on. It started again at 23k. I'm just going to put my own on this time.

When you take it back in for repair I would request the old parts for inspection just so you know you are truly getting new rotors not just getting them turned. Ive had problems befor but never after a new set of rotors. Its easy enough to check for sticking caliper, jack up car pump brake pedal then see if tire spins free. usually a befor and after pump spin and if problem you will see it right away.
