New info on Service Traction Control Light

On Sunday as I was driving in some terrible traffic to go to the car show at Sea Port Village San Diego and meet the HHR gang, I got the Service T/C light. I was in heavy stop and go traffic so never got to moving very fast and I found a parking space and promptly forgot about it. Light was out after restarting and driving home.

Once I got home, I pulled out my laptop and connected up my AutoEnginuity software to the ODBII connection. I have an advanced module and it reads everything, something like 17,000 + measurement points. There was a stored code for an ABS error in the right front wheel it said so I cleared it and none since. I should have written down the code number but I was tired. If it shows again I'l write the number down and maybe next time remember to hook it up and turn on the continuous monitor if I am going to be driving in really bad traffic such as taking a trip to L.A. or something.

Spent $500 but not fixed!

Hi, does anyone have advice about my 2009 HHR's Service Traction/ESC/ABS light? I've paid about $500 to address the problem, but my mechanic wants another $410 to replace another sensor! And now I am starting to feel a weird hesitation when I'm braking, as though the ABS is trying to kick on. I know I have a rear strut that needs replaced, I've just been procrastinating... COuld they be related?

Thanks! s t a r r in CA

No struts in the rear. Only shocks.

Hey s t a r r,

Welcome to the forum! I apologize that you are experiencing this concern with your HHR. I would be happy to look into this matter for you. Is the mechanic you are working with at one of our GM Certified dealerships? I can be reached via PM. Please include your full name, address, phone number, VIN, current mileage, and involved dealership.

I look forward to your reply,

Jonathan A.

My advice is to find out what the code NUMBERS are and then post them. Without them and working only on your description, I would say say your discombobulaturator may be broken, but further money should be spent to not resolve the nebulous problem.
