New Key not Working after being Programmed
I lost my key yesterday and purchased a new one from the dealership I got my car from. They told me how to program the new key once I got to my car, I spent the 30+ minutes programming the key... the issue I am having is that the car turns on for like 5 seconds then shuts off. I gave the car a jump thinking the batter died from programming the key.... same results turning on and shutting off again. Maybe I programmed the key wrong? But now the car starts...
Before losing the key I haven't had any battery issues. The icon of the lock is still showing in my dashboard. I cannot afford to take it in to the shop... someone please hellllp!

Hi Vanessasmom,
to the forums!!
Your title says new key fob, but the body of the post refers only to new key. So which is it?
If it's a key, does it have the + symbol? I think you need to have a programmed key, in order to program your new key.
If it's a new FOB, from GM, I think it needs to be programmed with a TECH2 or better scanner.
You're actually programming the car to the FOB.

Well, that sounds like the 30 minute relearn procedure, like here

Read thru this, maybe there was a detail that they left out or you forgot.

This is a GM dealership?
This procedure might work: Same as RJ just looks different.

OK you need to get your battery charged and tested, you might need a new battery. Newer vehicles like this are very finicky, they need the voltage that they need. Weak batteries can cause all kinds of error codes and problems, even though they may be strong enough to turn the engine over.
The procedure for removing a stuck key is in the owner manual.
