Since it connects to the CAT some dealers will warranty it under the 8/80 emission warranty, others won't since it's not a true converter failure.

It true, Federal Emission Control System Warranty, 8yrs /80K on cat convertor,

Also covered is the powertrain control module.

Besides the owners manual, do you have the thinner booklet entitled:

Limited Warranty & Owner Assistance Information..

It's all in there..

No I don't believe I do. Just the Owners manual. But I am also not sure that that is what it is.

if it was the flex pipe there would most likely be an irritating increase in exhaust note since this has what is assumed to be a stock exhaust..

Well, I do have the wooly worm taken off under the hood, and that gives off a nice deep growl. But, the sound I am hearing is more Tenor, than Bass..
