New shifter problem?
New shifter problem?
Hey,
I don't think that I've ever read about this one:
Yesterday, leaving from work, I noticed:
1) My transmission was shifting hard (1st->2nd being the worse)
2) I could hear the shifter interlock clicking every time I touched the brake
3) My doors auto lock/unlock stopped working
After driving a while, I shut down and restarted the engine; symptom 1) disappeared and I was left with 2) and 3)
This morning, I was testing other stuff and noticed that putting the shifter in the I or L position had no effect (I was still getting the default "D" behavior). The hard shifting hasn't returned, but symptoms 2) and 3) are still present.
So my guess is that something in the car (BCM?) doesn't know that I shifted out of P, and still doesn't know when I'm in either I or L gears, but R N and D all work fine because of an actual mechanical link to the transmission.
Loose wire or new shifter assembly?
Yves
