Newcomer to Forum(Key Problem)

Hello,

I have just joined the Forum. I had had a problem with my 2006 HHR when the Igniton Lock cylinder froze up and the key could not be turned. The key goes in and comes out OK but cannot be turned once inserted.

Any suggestions?

There are MANY threads in regard to this problem. The Search field in the top middle of the this page will yield much discussion.

Also see current threads, with links, to newspaper articles regarding a recall for this issue.

The ignition on the 06-07' was just recalled this week too wasn't it? Take it to a dealership and they will replace no?

A resounding "yes". Contact a local GM Service Dept.

Probably not!!!! Dealers may not have the necessary parts on hand. If you read the threads and the links provided, you'll understand that only some vehicles may be affected and the owners will be notified if they are to participate in the recall.

The necessary parts are being rushed to production by the vendor to accomplish the recall.........but probably not until April.

The recalls have been expanded now to every vehicle made in the effected time frame. This is one of the largest recalls in history now.

And if you bring it in and ask, they will replace it, because god forbid your ignition fail leaving their dealership after they turn you down... It would be Snoopy Chevrolet after that.

IF the parts are available!!!!!!! should be in April 2014. Read the bulletin before you get up in the dealer's face.

If the parts are not available, how could they possibly replace it?

Everybody should calm down.
