No AC
You'll have to check the freon before trying to check the low pressure switch.
If you're not knowledgeable about automotive AC repair, then it's best to let a pro handle it.
Obvious you don't know about automotive AC's. "Adding a can" means nothing. You need to know the pressure readings. Both high and low sides when working on a system.
As far as the switch. It's just a safety switch. Activates by low pressure. Bypass jumping it is the normal way to check it. BUT, if you don't know what the pressure is in the system, then you'd just be guessing if it's bad or not.

Well, if you had to add a can of refrigerant, that means there is a leak. It doesn't just magically disappear. Maybe it's low again.
When the refrigerant leaks out, eventually air and contaminants can leak in. Then the system needs to be evacuated, the leak repaired, and new refrigerant put in, by weight.

Please don't get side tracked with the charging of the AC. On the climate control panel there are three knobs. The one on the right is the temp. control. The middle is Fan speed. And the knob on the right is for porting the air.
Here is my question !
There is a light between the temp. control and the fan speed. Normally when the key is turned on (NO START) this indicator light comes on. This is also the indicator to let you know fresh air will be drawn in. The indicator lamp farther to the right comes on when you want air to be recirculated.
I loaned my AC charging gauges out but I did connect a very actuate pressure gauge to the LOW SIDE and with the key on and no engine running it read 40.9 PSI.
Can you shed some light on what turns the fresh air light on ?
When I turn the key on this fresh air lamp does not come on.
