No power- key stuck in ignition.

My key fob wouldn't work at all so I manually opened the door.
I put the key in the ignition and I got nothing. No lights. Nothing.
Now the key is stuck in the ignition. Cannot move the car out of park either.
HELP!!

If you enter that in the search window above, you'll get some good information on this problem.

Column Lock Release
For vehicles with an automatic transmission, the following procedure allows the ignition to be turned to LOCK/OFF and ignition key to be removed in case of a dead battery or low voltage battery.

(the step by step is in your owners manual)

Thanks everyone! I'll be calling the dealer first thing in the morning- They replaced the ignition switch when it was recalled- not sure if that's the problem or the shifter from what I'm reading. Either way- I hate being without a car for a stupid reason.

Well- it turns out it was a dead battery. Anti theft detterent causes the key to lock in the ignition. I called AAA this morning and I'm back in business!!

Glad you got back on the road.

Have had the key stuck with dead
battery more than a couple times.

Glad it's fixed , a dead battery can cause a myriad of problems, like the stuck in the ignition key deal!

AAA to the rescue! When I have them address this problem a few years ago while on vacation in Florida , the guy was very good to deal with and the battery is still in the HHR it's 5 years next month

Strange you didn't notice a dead battery.

If you need an owners manual; here's a link
