I have a 2006 Chevy HHR with an automatic transmission. When you shift into reverse it does not engage, does not move.

No need to double post in 2 different sections.

You stated a problem. Are you asking for help ? Or just venting.

If you're asking for help, I would advise to take it to a transmission repair shop.

Unless you are highly mechanically minded and capable, you are best to take FMG's advice and get it to a transmission repair shop you can trust. Auto trans are quite complex, and the shop should be able to run some diagnostics on it to help pinpoint the problem.

By any chance is the Check Engine Light on?

Hard to say what the problem is without running diagnostics - and a trans shop or your dealer would be the best place to do that.

aboard lox!

I'll have to agree with George & whopper, it could be something as simple as failure in the shifter, to a catastrophic failure in the transmission.

In this case, the best advice is Get Thee to a Transmission Shop post haste.

And be careful about where you park, so you don't NEED reverse! Hoping for your sake, it just needs a shifter/linkage adjustment...
